GIRLS LOVE DJS DISCUSSES BEGINNINGS, HIS DEBUT RELEASE ON SPINNIN’ RECORDS AND HIS FUTURE PLANS IN OUR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW!

Rob Black, who is better known as Girls Love DJs has been making waves in the dance music scene for quite some time now. These past years, he has continued to play at some of the biggest festivals in the world, but last year he decided to tour a little less and focus more on production. It looks like this decision has paid off, seeing as recently he has signed with Spinnin’ Records and just a few days ago, he debuted his first single on the label, called “Dynamite”.

For this occasion, we’ve had the chance to talk to him and find out more about his career, so if you are curious to find out more details about him, make sure to check out our exclusive interview below!

1) Hey, Rob. How are you?

I’m really good, thanks for asking!

2) First of all, we want to know. How did it all start for you?

Well, it all started I think 7 years ago when I started with DJ-ing. Two years after I started it got serious. In a short time I spent most of my time DJ’ing and at the same time I started to develop my hunger to produce my own music.

3) At the beginning of your career, what was the hardest thing you’ve had to overcome?

Nerves. It is always exciting to be the DJ for a big crowd as a newbie.

4) What are some of your inspirations as an artist, who do you look up to?

There are many haha. Mick Jagger, because, Mick Jagger. Calvin Harris because in my opinion he is one of the most musically skilled people of this time. Lenny Kravitz because he is amazing performer on and off stage! I could go on and on about artists I look up to…

5) Tell us a little bit more about your recent single with Dux n Bass. How did this collaboration came to be?

We were working on another single, but we got stuck. We decided to clear our minds and listen to some other music. At one point I played Dux n Bass the vocals of ‘Dynamite’, they loved the vocals and got inspired so we jumped into the studio and recorded the track in no time!

6) What does this record say about your evolution as an artist?

I love of all kinds of music. From classical music to hip hop and from pop to house, as long as it has some kind of sexiness in it. In the past I released different types of music. By releasing this Drum ’n Bass inspired track I think I can showcase my diversity as an artist.

7) What would you say the most exciting aspect of today’s dance music scene is?

That everything is different and everyone is open minded. Every artist is free to release music without fans acting surprised. Eclectic for the win!

8) As an artist, how would you define success?

Being able to do what makes you happy!

9) What else do you have in store for the following months?

I really look forward to my track with Sam Feldt which will be released on his album. Next to that, I am completing my second track and I am touring a lot this summer. I will host the main stage at Amsterdam Open Air and I will give a party at The Ark. Good Times!

10) Do you have anything else you would like to share with our readers?

I hope I can continue to surprise everyone with my music and hope that everyone will keep following my work and the evolution of my career.

11) Thank you for answering our questions!

Thanks for asking me my friend!

LAIDBACK LUKE SHARES DETAILS ABOUT HIS UPCOMING PROJECTS, HIS HIGHLIGHTS OF 2016 AND HIS NEW RELEASE WITH RALVERO TITLED “XOXO”! [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]

I’m sure that Laidback Luke needs no introduction! Ever since he began his career, he has accomplished many amazing things and has continued to impress his fans with his outstanding productions and more. Now, following on from the successful tracks he released in 2016, the music producer stuns once again with his latest single “XOXO”, which is a collaboration with Ralvero.

To celebrate this release, we’ve caught up with the mastermind for a chat about his highlights of the past year, about the new music he’s got in store and more. So, make sure that you don’t miss our exclusive interview! Enjoy!

  1. Hello, Luke. How are you today?

Hi there, I’m doing great thank you! I’m currently writing this for you in Las Vegas where I will be playing for #WynnNightlife tonight.

2. To start things off, can you tell us what were some of your highlights from the year that just passed?

I’ve had two major club bangers out last year. My collaboration with Afrojack and Hawkboy called ‘Move To The Sound’. My collab with Twoloud ‘Fcukin’ Beats’ did so well for my label! On a personal level, I cracked the fitness food code and managed to lower my fat percentage in a humain and liveable way.

3. And what were some of the most important lessons you learned in 2016?

The nutrition thing and trying to build a new physique were absolutely the biggest thing for me in 2016. In 2016 I learned to go more with the flow when it comes to stress and tough situations. Trying to inspire people more than judging them and that has been very productive.

4. I’ve seen that you’ve just released a single with Ralvero, „XOXO”. What is the meaning behind this track?

It’s an emotional track. The style is different than what you might have heard from me. But we’ve been releasing more radio stuff on my Mixmash label and it’s finally time for me to do something like that too. It’s emotional because all this world need right now is a hug and a kiss. We should focus on becoming more of a unity as people instead of living in fear.

5. Besides this new release, what else will you be working on this year?

More releases! This year will be focussed more on a crossover sound. My big dream is to still once have a crossover mainstream radio track. The other plan for this year is to come with a new album as well.

6. Let’s also talk a bit about Mixmash Records. What should your fans expect from the label in the following months?

We have a lot of quality stuff on the way. Mixmash is always the label that introduces the next big newcomers and it’s looking really good for the following months.

7. From your point of view, who would be your one to watch in 2017 from Mixmash?

Jack Wins is going to be doing big things in 2017!

8. We know you are a busy artist. Can you tell us how a usual day in the life of Laidback Luke goes?

I made a VLOG about this called ‘What DJs do during the week’. You should check it out, it’s on my Youtube channel ‘Laidback Luke’ where I have a new VLOG up every single week. I shoot them and edit them myself so it gets super personal!

9. In the end, with a new year come new resolutions. What are some of the things you wish to accomplish, both in your career and personal life?

So I mentioned the crossover hit but there’s also the World Championships in Kung Fu I’m doing in Hong Kong in March. I’m currently prepping for it hard. Then there’s my black belt exam after the summer too which is huge for me. I’ve been getting ready for that for almost 17 years now and in our organisation it’s quite hard to achieve. But finishing that, will officially give me a master title.

10. Thank you for answering our questions.

It’s been my pleasure, thanks for having me!

CURTIS ALTO SHARE DETAILS ON THEIR CAREER, THEIR LATEST SINGLE AND UPCOMING PROJECTS IN OUR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW!

Maxim, Mathias & David are three music producing brothers from Belgium. Their love for music has been around for years: being just a couple of years old, their attention was grasped by the piano in their house. Later on, their passion got spread to different instruments. Maxim learned to play the guitar and Mathias the drums. It didn’t take long before David jumped in, trying to get a grip of the guitar and hence enabling them to jam together.

The three brothers encouraged one another to get better, and exchanged instruments. For his 15th birthday, Mathias received a Launchpad and this immediately sparked the interest of his two elder brothers to produce electronic music. However, this gave them the feeling that something was missing. They felt that combining their instruments would somehow “close the bridge”. A bit after, the artist name Curtis Alto was born.

We’ve recently had the chance to speak with the group about their career, their latest release on Spinnin’ Records and more, so make sure to check out our interview below!

1) Hey guys. How are you today?

Hey EDM Nations, we are really good actually, thanks. Our new track “Intimacy” came out on Friday and the music video got released simultaneously. On the same day we also had the opportunity to play at the Ancienne Belgique, a unique experience because it was the first time we played at this legendary club. We’re very grateful for it!

2) First of all, tell us, what was it about dance music that attracted you towards it?

We have been making music for years but got into dance music about two years ago. The endless possibilities one can achieve and the fact that we could combine the beats with our instruments (when performing) were two major attractions!

3) What have you seen change the most in the music industry ever since you started?

The music industry is evolving so rapidly – in such way that nowadays it’s difficult to put a song in a particular genre. That’s really exciting because it feels like there are no boundaries.

4) What has been the standout moment in your career so far?

There have been many standout moments so far. If we had to choose one, we would say that playing at Tomorrowland was definitely rewarding! The joy and love being spread there is amazing. The true standout for us though is the support we receive of people who believe in what we do!

5) Give us some more details about your new track with Sunbathers. What was your inspiration for this tune?

The idea behind “Intimacy” was really to create a track that blends electronic elements with more of an organic, indie vibe and at the same providing lots of energy and dynamism! The latter is also translated in the music video.

6) In your opinion, what is the most difficult part about producing a new song?

Perhaps that’s finishing the last pieces of the track because you know: “after this point, the track will be out there, and you can’t change it anymore.” So you want it to be exactly as you envisioned.

7) Now, on a more general note, I suppose you guys set yourselves goals and targets, just like anyone does. What is the most important one for you at the moment?

The fact that we, as brothers, can continue to make and play music and spread good vibes to the people who listen to our music, is our goal.

8) When you aren’t making music or playing shows, what do you like to do to unwind?

We love to listen to music! That’s something we really like to do, to all kinds of genres.

9) What do you have prepared for the following months? Anything exciting that you would like to share with our readers?

We have some new tracks lined up and are also continuously working on our live set. For instance, we will soon be giving a full live show in Ghent with some awesome guest performers.

10) Thank you for answering our questions!

Thanks for having us!

JONAS ADEN ON FULL FORCE WITH ‘DAVID & GOLIATH’!

Blasting his way into international stardom last year with several bootleg remixes, Norwegian producer Jonas Aden quickly drew the attention of many tastemaking DJs. Releasing his first official record ‘Fall Under Skies’ on Oliver Heldens’ label Heldeep by the end of 2015, the track was streamed over a million times within four weeks. The follow-up track ‘Temple’ saw likewise success, released on Don Diablo’s HEXAGON label, supported by a wide range of artists.

Jonas Aden was also handpicked by Tiësto to warm up for him during his show in Oslo, Norway, and opened for JAUZ in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Meanwhile, both Oliver Heldens and Don Diablo pinpointed him as ‘the new generation of talents’, which the Norwegian maverick was underlining in 2016 with performances in Miami, Belgium and Greece. After signing at Spinnin’ Records, Jonas has not been silent and released a collab with Brooks on Don Diablo’s Hexagon, a solo track ‘Feel My Soul’ on Spinnin’ and last but not least his collab ‘Breathe’ with Kings on Spinnin Premium!
