House music mainstay SNBRN returns to the scene with his brand new “James Brown” featuring Malcolm Anthony & Anthony Isaiah, the producers first release since his April 2020 hit “Obsession.” The funk-infused treat is out Friday, August 21 via Ultra Music.

An upbeat single best suited for grooving, “James Brown” is the intersection of classic house and new wave funk. With a penchant for all things house, SNBRN enlists Malcolm Anthony & Anthony Isaiah for a sonic fusion of danceable flare. Four-on-the-floor basslines rally behind a sultry guitar riff, as intoxicating vocals send listeners through decades of dance. Stirring percussive elements round out the already burgeoning single, with Malcolm Anthony’s smooth flow and Anthony Isaiah’s soulful croons. Further solidifying his standing in the house and indie ranks, SNBRN’s “James Brown” is yet another impressive notch in the producers prolific playbook. With more to come throughout 2020, SNBRN is one to watch.

“5 years ago my A&R and I came up with the idea of creating a modern version of a James Brown record. He forwarded me a demo vocal to reproduce around but it ultimately didn’t end up working out because of a clearance issue with some of the production. Years went by and I kept going back to the record in the studio playing with the song. There was something special about it that I couldn’t let go but nothing materialized. One crazy night about two years ago in my studio in LA, I showed my newest version of the instrumental demo to Malcolm and he immediately thought of his boy Anthony who can sing just like James Brown. Anthony showed up about 30 minutes later and my god it was like James Brown was actually in the studio with us. The magic in the room that night was something else. Over the last two years we went to the ends of the world to clear the samples we used in the song and get approval from James Brown’s estate to release the record. Having their blessing made all the hard work worth it. I’ve been holding on to this one for a long time and am so stoked to finally share it with the world. In this time of uncertainty and hardship the only thing you can do is be strong and …GET ON UP.” – SNBRN
About SNBRN:
SNBRN has become one of dance music’s most compelling new voices. The LA-based producer, real name Kevin Chapman, has mastered the art of the anthemic house hit, as evidenced by blockbuster singles like “Gangsta Walk,” “Raindrops,” and “Beat The Sunrise.” It’s no coincidence the producer has already racked up official releases on Atlantic, Astralwerks, Spinnin’, Ultra, Republic and Sony. Simply put, his sound is infectious.

SNBRN began in 2014 as a response to the increasing lack of innovation in dance music culture. While the project initially served as a recreational outlet for Chapman’s experimentation, it soon became abundantly clear that he was onto something special.

After garnering multiple Hype Machine #1’s with his first remixes, SNBRN caught the attention of Ultra Music, who signed the budding producer in late 2014. Chapman’s first single for the label, “Raindrops,” arrived in early 2015 to widespread acclaim, receiving major radio support across the US.

Chapman followed up in late 2015 with the equally infectious “Beat The Sunrise,” cementing his crossover appeal. Featuring vocalist/guitarist Andrew Watt, the song showcased SNBRN’s unique ability to integrate indie dance elements with euphoric, underground-leaning house production.

In 2016, SNBRN debuted his biggest single yet, “Gangsta Walk.” Utilizing a previously unreleased Nate Dogg acapella, Chapman paid homage to the late rap legend with one of the standout crossover dance jams of the year. The song would go on to reach double platinum status in several territories, cementing SNBRN’s name as a veritable hitmaker within the scene. With his music charting across North America, Chapman turned to the performance realm, making notable appearances at both Ultra Music Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival in 2016. In 2017, SNBRN reached his biggest milestone yet, performing at Coachella in the behemoth Sahara Tent. Having attended the Indio festival since the age of 17, the performance marked something of a full circle moment for Chapman, while further reaffirming the potential of the project.

Now SNBRN has found himself at the forefront of a burgeoning house and indie dance scene. With over 80 million streams on Spotify and counting, the producer is perfectly poised to continue his ascension of the the dance music world.
