The mayors of Boom and Rumst stick to their refusal of the license for the dance festival Tomorrrowland. This was learned on Monday from the spokesman for Prime Minister Jan Jambon, who consulted the mayors. It was a “constructive consultation”, but “the context at the moment is not such for the mayors to go back on their decision.”

“After our announcement, we were contacted by Flemish Minister of the Interior and Society Bart Somers (Open VLD), Flemish Minister of Culture Jan Jambon (N-VA) and Federal Minister of the Interior Annelies Verlinden (CD&V) to clarify our decision. ”, say mayors Jeroen Baert and Jurgen Callaerts in a press release.

“Of course we were happy to discuss this in an open dialogue and it was a very constructive conversation with the three Excellencies. We understand of course all the higher or economic interests at stake and especially the eagerness with which everyone wants a festival summer back, but the full responsibility to ensure public peace, safety and health rests with us as mayors. In view of the current circumstances known to us, we cannot reconsider our decision and our position regarding the license applied for.

The organizer of Tomorrowland does not want to respond for the time being. “For now, we can’t add anything to our statement from last week. We have yet to see what we are going to do.

We will keep you guys updated once we will have more details about Tomorrowland 2021 !
