Last week, it was announced that SoundCloud would be shutting down its offices in San Francisco and London, aside to firing 40% of its employees. As the service’s CEO, Alex Ljung revealed, the move was made to ensure the company’s “long-term, independent success”. However, now, some of the remaining employees have confessed to Tech Crunch that SoundCloud’s founders, Alex Ljung and Eric Wahlforrs revealed that this move has only bought them enough time and saved them money until the company’s Q4, which will kick off in 50 days.
The future of SoundCloud does not look so bright now, but I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens next!
