Danny Avila is passionate about music, and it shows. His music has been released on major labels including Interscope, Musical Freedom, Spinnin’ Records and Ultra Music.

This year has been a huge one for Danny, who has dropped some brilliant singles, has made the highest re-entry on DJ Mag Top100 DJ’s 2017 poll at number 52, has performed all over the world, plus he’s done many other great things. We’ve recently had the chance to speak with the young producer, so make sure to check out our exclusive interview below!

  1. Hello, Danny! How have you been lately?

Hey! Great thanks. I’ve had a crazy time since signing to Sony International with new releases and shows , my schedule has been non-stop! It’s been a really exciting time for me and I’m always chasing the next new project.

  1. So, let’s kick off. You were the highest re-entry on this year’s DJ Mag Top 100. How do you feel about that? Were you expecting this?

Not at all! Music has been my greatest passion since a really young age –  just having the ability to practice it as a career is a dream come true, let alone receiving this kind of acknowledgement. I’ve worked hard this year and have pushed myself to achieve my goals, but you never expect to see it pay off so well  when you’re in the midst of it all. I’m so happy to be back in the list. I hope to continue impressing and improving, I can’t wait to show everyone the things I’ve got planned!

  1. You’ve recently dropped a track with the NERVO twins ‘Loco’. How did your collaboration come to be and how long have you been working on it?

I’ve had a great friendship with the NERVO twins for years and working with them was super fun. Since we always have such a good time together (we’ve all played Ushuaïa Ibiza two years in a row now and DJ’ed on Richard Branson’s Necker Island), we decided to collaborate and combine our energy into one track. I originally conceptualised the idea, then we all pitched in with our own touches and after a few months we had ‘Loco’. I’m so pleased with the reception of the tune so far!

  1. What do you look for first when creating a new track?

I guess I just try to find inspiration. Whenever I’m playing shows in new countries I listen out for interesting sounds and styles that can be integrated into my music. I like to think that I have a fairly eclectic sound, so listening out for new ideas is really important to me. I use that  inspiration to create either a drum pattern or a melody line, then I go from there!

  1. And speaking about music, can you tell us what would be on album or artist you’re listening to now that people wouldn’t expect?

Well, I have been listening to Post Malone for a long time way before he got this big. “Stoney”’ is one of my favorite albums ever. I love it!

  1. Another great project of yours this year was your ‘Style Sessions’. How did you come up with the idea to start doing the sessions?

Thanks! ‘Style Sessions’ was such a great project, definitely one of my favorites so far. I guess I came up with the idea after realizing that there was a simple way to share with everyone my passion for all types of electronic music. I wanted to find a way in which I could highlight the incredible artists and genres I listen to, as they’re all a part of my own personal journey. I’m also constantly working to improve and evolve my own technical ability, so putting myself in that particular spotlight felt like a good way to flex that techy muscle.

  1. With 2017 being almost over, can you tell us what has been your most memorable moment of this year?

It’s been such a crazy, incredible year… I think it’s impossible to pick just one! I’ve toured 3 continents this year (Europe, Asia and North America), which has been a real eye-opener and an awesome experience. Playing alongside NERVO at Ushuaïa Ibiza is also up there, working with those girls is always fun.  The whole summer season this year was amazing, I can’t wait to do it all again next year!

  1. And last, but not least, what else do you have in stores for the fans in the following months?

I can’t give too much away… all I can say is watch this space for upcoming releases. I’m currently finalizing some bits with Sony International which I’m very proud of.

  1. Thank you for your time!
