Oliver Heldens is ready to unleash his latest tried-and-tested weapon: a hot edit of rising London producer Aevion that’s been causing havoc in his sets of late. When Oliver heard the original of the track from the rising London producer, he instantly heard his own version in his head and set about securing Aevion’s permission to work his magic on the track. Naturally Aevion said yes, no doubt impressed with Heldens’ careful handling recently of many a classic track from yesteryear.

Beginning with an assuming shuffling beat and muted chord progressions teasing things to come, this edit soon springs into glorious technicolour in the dramatic break. Aevion’s bold, cinematic chord progressions are played out by hazy, buzzing synth leads, and when paired with the monstrous snare build it’s like a taste of mid-’90s trance.

There’s no denying where we are when the drop comes, though: right on the cutting-edge of 21st Century House Music. Weighty brass horns play out the commanding main hook as a simultaneous bass throb mirrors the melody. Far-flung vocal snippets punctuate the background as the percussion builds more urgent layers. Heldens strips things down before the break to increase the intensity, taking using right down to just the punchy kick and the rubbery bass before the chords enter once more.
