New Yorker Jacob Colon has a discography that’s full of complex rhythms, grooves and melodies all of which match perfectly to the dancefloor. His latest single ‘Bliss’ features jazzy piano solos, classic house sounds and tribal rhythms and steel drum sounds. The track oozes summer feels so we caught up with Jacob to discuss ‘Bliss’.

Hi Jacob, how are you coping during the pandemic?

So far, I can’t complain too much. Having a studio in my house is great for a time like this. Now I have more of a reason to be inside my cave! I’ve been able to explore more music and connect with more producers for collaborations. They will be coming soon!

What have you been doing to keep busy?

Besides music, Netflix and cooking have been next on my list. I’m a sports fanatic so I’ve been able to binge watch shows like the “Last Dance” on ESPN. If anyone has other suggestions, feel free to find me on Instagram and message me your suggestions!

Tell us about the inspiration behind ‘Bliss’?

I knew that I wanted this song to have a summer vibe. I used a mallet sound which gives a nice Caribbean island vibe.

What were your original plan when you first sat down to create Bliss? Did they change at all?

The melody must’ve changed about 5 times. Besides that, I knew what sounds I wanted to use.

Who would you like to see supporting the track?

First and foremost, I would love to see my fans rocking this song and hope they catch the vibe I did when creating it. Drinks up by the pool!

What is your favourite part of the track?

I like when the melody first comes in. I think it’s very catchy and thus far I’ve received the same response from my supporters.

How would you describe Bliss in 3 words?

Summer, Pool, Chill

Finally, what’s next for Jacob Colon?

I will be releasing music on a record label called “I am House Records”. I collaborated with a great friend of mine, “Oba Frank Lords” who is best known for his vocals on the song Dark Beat (Addicted to Drums). This label was founded by the legendary Crystal Waters who I had the pleasure working with on a remix that helped the song climb up the Dance Charts and win a #1 Billboard plaque. As always, I also have music that I will be dropping on my label, Made to Move Records.
