MaWayy and Right Said Fred revamp iconic pop tune ‘I’m Too Sexy’ !

In an ingenious blast from the past, Emmy Award winning, Iranian-US duo MaWayy has teamed up with UK pop phenomenon Right Said Fred for a creative revamp of iconic 90’s tune “I’m Too Sexy.” Recorded with fresh vocals from the original idols, the song keeps its smooth, sensual voice, in this version complemented by a danceable and energetic bouncy beat, effectively creating a whole new gem, ready to overwhelm the summer dance crowds all over again. Out now on Spinnin’ Records.

“I’m Too Sexy” still counts as one of the early 90’s biggest hits. Marking the breakthrough of UK duo Right Said Fred (who continued to dominate the charts throughout the decade), the song reached #1 in several countries, including the US and Australia, while also residing at #2 in the UK Singles Chart for six weeks in a row, turning into a certified global summer hit in 1991.

Fast forward to our decade, when Iranian-US dance act MaWayy meet Right Said Fred through one of their mutual agents. The duo, comprised of Emmy Award winning television composer/producers Brian Wayy and Masoud Fuladi, had already been making waves with several club tunes, including 2017 debut “Wrong” (counting over 1,6 million views on YouTube as we speak) and 2020’s “Calling Her My Name,” and was eager to explore how to work together with the iconic UK pop act.

As it happened, both teams were interested in re-inventing “I’m Too Sexy,” with MaWayy inspired to create a fresh groove around the song, while Right Said Fred were feeling up to re-visiting their famous hit. The result turned out phenomenal, as the guys delivered a mint performance, featuring their characteristic smooth vocal style in a wonderfully updated guise, perfectly backed by MaWayy’s inventive production sound.

In this new version, “I’m Too Sexy” builds on Right Said Fred’s sensual vocals, reminiscing the vibe of the ’91 original, while MaWayy drenches the guys in subtle yet captivating sound effects, taking their classic lines on fashion lifestyle and doing ‘my little turn on the catwalk’ straight into a lustrous 2024 mood.

MaWayy then adds a sturdy beat and some tantalizing melodics to twist the song in a whole new direction. As the rhythm and melodies evolve, the duo perfectly showcases its studio expertise, letting the tune drop into a highly effective chorus, emphasized by deep bass chords to accompany the vocals.

Ultimately, we all win. Fans from back in the day will embrace the return of Right Said Fred, sounding  joyful and better than ever before, while today’s crowd will love this classic taken to a next, contemporary level, translating its upbeat vibe into a strong club and festival favorite.   Springtime is here, and “I’m Too Sexy” is all over it, ready to soundtrack the season in an electronically charged, fun driven version – making it an inevitable tune all over again.

Bathed in the moodsome blue light of the titan Ahoy arena, in the opening minutes of their ASOT 2024 set, Cosmic Gate premiered their new single. The response ‘Brave’ received from the tens of thousands gathered in Rotterdam was greater than even the duo dared hope. 

‘Brave’ represents the first material, post ‘MOSAIIK – Chapters One & Two’ – the twin albums that definitively reset Cosmic Gate’s sonic to something “deeper, more progressive and song-led”. The music that followed was only going to advance that ethic further. The single sees Cosmic Gate in a first-time collaboration with multi-award winning singer/songwriter Christian Burns, but as the three acknowledge, ‘Brave’s creation was not without its own challenges.

“Working on something together has been on the cards for quite some time”, says Christian. “It was never about doing a track … but doing the right one though.” “The moment we heard Christian’s ‘Brave’ demo, we knew we’d found the one”, comments Bossi. “The song has a unique atmosphere and, production-wise, I think we knew what we were going to do with it before we’d finished our first listen!” adds Nic.

Solemn and haunting in places, mesmerizing in others, ‘Brave’s powerful draw-you-in nature has a once heard/never forgotten quality. Carried by Christian Burn’s lingering, ethereal delivery, its words convey an equally compelling message. Global dance icon David Guetta presents ‘The Monolith’, his groundbreaking production set in the magical ancient desert setting of AlUla, considered by many one of the wonders of the world.

Against a jaw-dropping desert background, the multiple Grammy winner performs a breathtaking, specially-crafted set full of new mashups and edits, while all around him The Monolith’s staggering light show does justice to its historical setting.

“This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in my life. It’s the beauty, the incredible energy. It’s powerful!” Guetta says.

The artistic direction was supervised by David Guetta, Jean-Guillaume Charvet and Romain Pissenem for Highscream, and with special thanks to Royal Commission for Al Ula,  the producers What A DJ and the executive producers MDLBEAST for FILM ALULA. Almost a year and a half since her tenth studio LP ULTRA dropped to widespread critical acclaim, Ultra Naté finally releases the single for one of the album’s stand-out tracks and fan favourite, the Russell Small (Freemasons) and DNO P collaboration HAPPY FEELING.

Speaking about the song, Ultra said: “HAPPY FEELING, the opening track from my ULTRA album, always had a special place in my heart since it was written during the darkest moments of the pandemic. Such a simple desire seemed so remote, but working on this song gave me the anchor I needed. Sharam celebrates 15th Anniversary of ‘Get Wild’ on his Yoshitoshi label with huge remix ahead of new album!

It’s very much a time for milestones at Yoshitoshi and label boss, Sharam. Following on from his recent 25th anniversary update of Eddie Amador’s seminal ‘House Music’, the renowned DJ and producer now turns full auteur to provide a remix of his own ‘Get Wild’ as it too marks a birthday; albeit in this case, a slightly younger 15!

‘Get Wild’ was the lead single from Sharam’s first solo album of the same name that went on to global success that went beyond his expectations. “I‘ve got a lot to thank ‘Get Wild’ for,” he explains, “I went into the studio with the intention of just doing one track, but as a lead single it lead me down a creative rabbit hole and before I knew it a whole concept album was born off the back of it. This ‘1.5 remix’ is my contemporary way of saying a big, musical thank you.”

So, ignoring any self-imposed pressure, although keen to ensure the update did the original justice, Sharam returned to his mixing desk inspired with the very best intentions and the result is there for all to hear. He once again pulls off a magic balancing-act, integrating Mario Vazquez’ memorable vocal with a little bit of everything from tech to techno with roaring reese drops that’s become synonymous with his productions. “The original was huge when it came out and was played by all types of DJs, so I wanted to build on that with something equally universal to reintroduce the record to a new generation of music enthusiasts. It’s quite raw and gritty. That’s where my head is at right now” Re-presenting ‘Get Wild’ now makes for a fitting, perfectly-timed circle.
