Never in the history of Belgium’s most popular music event Tomorrowland was there a younger act on the line-up. Dutch teenager and above all DJ/producer Mark Villa (16) will play a one hour set Friday July 21st on the Super You & Me stage. Remarkably, it is not the first time the junior performs on the renowned festival. In 2016, when he was 15, Villa debuted at Tomorrowland. A performance that not only kick started his career but put the talent straight into the limelight before the dance industry’s taste makers and biggest DJs.
Tomorrowland is the international music festival drawing hundreds of thousands festival lovers each year. For many DJ/producers it is a long-term goal, or even life goal, to be featured on the line-up but not for Villa. His first gig ever was a set on the Tomorrowland Super You & Me stage (2016). Now, with an extremely successful year under his belt, the junior returns to the festival grounds with more experience and of course more music to premier.
Last year was a real rollercoaster for Mark Villa. After being discovered at a demo drop in 2015, the youngster was signed exclusively at Mixmash Records to develop himself as an artist in its broadest sense. This lead to the release of several tracks under the label’s banner and Villa playing Tomorrowland (2016), Parookaville (2016) and Bootshaus (2017). With his ‘work hard produce hard’ attitude he also gained support from big artists like Laidback Luke, Lucas & Steve, Don Diablo and Galantis who played his music on noted events such as UMF and Coachella to name a few. Now, with his second Tomorrowland show coming up, a huge Jonas Blue collab ‘In Your Arms Tonight’ (premiered on EDC Las Vegas / release date: July 28) and all this positivity surrounding him as an artist, it looks like a bright future awaits the young DJ/producer.
