Following October’s ‘The Limit’, magnetic duo Disfreq return to their new label Le Freq Recordings with ‘LEFREQ001’, a three-track EP exploring both drum-heavy techno and emotive synth-heavy electro, out 29th November.

The first track is ‘Sprite’, showcases Disfreq’s “more thought out” approach, revealing their experimental side with a heavy, bruising drum-focussed sound that leans into distortion. “We wanted to implement elements of distortion in the lower end of this record but also keep the top end interesting and more ‘badass,’” they explain. This intense, noise-driven track highlights Disfreq’s creative sound design while reflecting the bold ethos of Le Freq Recordings.

The latter half of the release ‘The Writings On The Wall sits on the more emotional side of the EP. The scene’s set with a steady, almost afrotech-leaning beat, while the main character of the track, a glistening lead synth melody, emerges beautifully.

The Writings On The Wall’ is “a track that came together pretty simply,” say Irish brothers, Disfreq. “We were jamming in the studio with different melodies and some organic drums and we hit a line of euphoria and it clicked with us both… ‘something to play in the car,’ we thought.”

Closing out the EP is ‘The Limit’, capturing Disfeq’s in-your-face, synth-heavy techno sound, one that can create pure carnage in clubs. The energy fails to falter throughout, as various synths whirr out of control, a raw distorted acid bassline growls into view and the track’s vocal refrain, drives the energy to the max.
