As soon as those lazy day guitar loops from back in the day start turning, you think you know what’s coming next. But, two decades on, Italian connection Daddy’s Groove and Bottai aren’t content with a simple recopy job telling you that you can do what you want to do.

An international smash for Ultra Naté, produced by Mood II Swing on Strictly Rhythm and featuring a hand-raising chorus that was inescapable at its peak, ‘Free’ was a number one in Italy, a US dance chart #1 and peaked at #4 in the UK singles chart to be certified gold, subsequently remixed by Bob Sinclar, Junior Sanchez and Jason Nevins.

‘Free’ for 2018 comes with completely new lyrics fitted around the chorus, the sweet but resilient vocals of Dutch singer-songwriter Mingue (Spinnin Deep, disco:wax) freshening up the themes of doing what feels right. The beach ready beats come with hints of vintage Daft Punk/Junior Jack, and are sure to have the next generation singing in unison just like over twenty years ago.
