Slowcore-Jazz Artist The Velvet Synne Announces Debut Single – Available July 21, 2026
BOSTON, MA — Breaking a two-decade silence with a profound sense of purpose, indie artist The Velvet Synne officially enters the contemporary music landscape with her debut single, “Love PTSD.” Serving as the first window into her forthcoming album, Énouement, the track is a masterclass in atmospheric storytelling, blending the hushed intimacy of slowcore with the sophisticated, smoky textures of dark jazz and soul.
“Love PTSD” is a cinematic exploration of the psychological residue left behind by past intimacy. Through haunting vocals and evocative, piano-driven arrangements, The Velvet Synne dissects the memories, patterns, and emotional imprints that linger long after a relationship has technically ended. It is a song for the quiet hours, capturing the realization that while a person may be gone, the version of ourselves they created often remains.
The release marks a triumphant return for an artist whose journey is defined by resilience and sensory rebirth. After studying songwriting at Berklee College of Music in 2000, The Velvet Synne stepped away from the industry to focus on her career and family. However, a life-altering turning point arrived in 2021 when she underwent reconstructive surgery to restore hearing in her left ear after years of deafness. Re-learning the world through sound reignited a creative fire that led her back to vocal coaching, harmony training, and eventually, the recording studio in 2025.
“Writing ‘Love PTSD’ was about acknowledging those ghosts that stay with you, the ones that shape your reactions to new love without you even realizing it,” says The Velvet Synne. “After years of silence and then finally being able to hear the world in full stereophonic sound again, I felt this urgent need to document these emotional complexities. This song, and the album it belongs to, is about the bittersweet realization that we are permanently changed by the people we’ve loved.”
Produced in collaboration with veteran Boston-area producer and Berklee instructor Sean McLaughlin, the track establishes a sound that is as romantic as it is occasionally unsettling. “Love PTSD” sets the stage for a series of upcoming singles, including “Alice” and “Nights in a NJ Diner,” which will further flesh out the immersive world of Énouement—a project less concerned with the events of the past and more focused on who we become because of them.
