Experimental pop duo STAR SEED has graciously come into the scene with a sound that takes its cues from nature, spirituality, and a desire to unravel the greatest mysteries of the universe. Falling in line with their sonic exploration, their first standalone single on the Lost In Dreams imprint sees them roping in the remarkable vocal talents of songstress Luma on a song about allowing the pains of the past to dissipate into the ether.
“How To Let Go” drifts into the frame with an ambient-like quality. Ostinato piano keys and ethereal pads create a cloud that forms beneath Luma’s soul searching, as she wrestles with the memories that haunt her existence. Her repeated refrain “How did you know // How to let go” sets her on the path towards rebound, finding strength amid a pillow-like production fueled by analog melodies, twinkling synths, soft snare rolls, ethereal pads, and their signature field recordings tucked into the edges of the mix.
The song has been a nearly two-year long labor of love. They have been tweaking and refining the production in their live sets all the while, letting the track go through multiple phases until it was finally ready to wash itself over the world.
STAR SEED reflects on the journey leading up to their new single: “We’ve been lucky enough to play Lost In Dreams fest the last two years. ‘How To Let Go’ is such a special song and we’re incredibly grateful it found its home with Lost In Dreams.”
In a few short years, the electronic music duo STAR SEED has made themselves known in a big way. Originally blowing up from their maiden release “Escape” with Meggie York, they have since enjoyed two appearances on the Lost In Dreams imprint. Last year, they were featured on the official ‘Lost In Dreams’ compilation in celebration of the inaugural festival in Las Vegas, putting forth their “Kanon” collaboration with PSYB3R and Jecht. A few months later, they blessed the label’s first-ever ‘Gateway’ compilation with their awe-inspiring creation, “Night Sky.” Fresh off their recent set at the label’s second annual festival, STAR SEED’s first standalone offering couldn’t have come at a better time.
Luma is a New York-based singer/songwriter with a discography unlike any other. With an angelic voice and an incredible ability to navigate through compelling storytelling, she has become a beloved vocalist on the Lost In Dreams catalog. In January of this year, her euphonious vocals were featured on breakout producer helloworld’s single “afterthought.” One month later, she was swooped up by melodic bass duo Crystal Skies on the single “Gold” taken from their debut artist album ‘Not Since When.’
STAR SEED and Luma’s new single “How To Let Go” is available on all platforms via Lost In Dreams.
