It’s been quite the journey for Mike Williams. Enjoying his break to fame in the mid-10’s with his ever melodic approach and anthem styled tracks, including successful collabs with Tiësto, R3hab, Felix Jaehn, and Mesto, the Dutchman recently turned heads again with fresh sounds, including last year’s Felix Jaehn collab “Without You” and solo hit “Harmony” (feat. Xillions) as well as this year’s popular songs “Pretty Little Words” (feat. Zack Hall) and “I Said Too Much.”
Setting off on a new adventure, Mike recently started his STORYLINES EP, aiming to take his audience through his musical career. From the artists that influenced him to vital collabs and, of course, his crowd giving him the energy to pursue higher goals – everyone has played an important role in Mike’s story. Lead single “Best Part Missing” already emphasized this personal touch with an emotionally charged pop vibe, while the EP’s second single “Supernova” (alongside RetroVision) focused on the energy he wants to unleash on the dance floor. Last week, third single “Ambush” saw him team up with Robbie Mendez for an ecstatic piece of progressive house – another side of Mike portrayed on the EP, now reaching its finale.
“When The Sun Is Gone” brings his imaginative sound to a next level, as he builds his melodic finds on the songwriting talent of Dutch artist RYVM, coming up strong lately with a series of popular songs, including singles “Waiting For You,”“Lost With You” and his recent Quintino collab “Empty City.” With this song, the guys already made a huge impression when performing it live at a recent show in the Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam. Featuring Mike Williams’ characteristic, refined piano chords, it gains momentum as RYVM’s vocals move from delicate to powerful, bursting into a compelling pre-chorus, followed by huge, spine touching synth stabs, emphasized by high energy beats and intense sound effects.
