It’s time for the third remix of Martin Garrix’s huge ‘Summer Days’ collaboration with Macklemore and Patrick Stump, and this one’s for the pumping house dancefloors. Botnek hail from Halifax, Nova Scotia in the east of Canada. They found early fame thanks to their viral remix of Garrix’s breakthrough hit ‘Animals’ and went on to become part of the DIM MAK family, featuring alongside Steve Aoki at his Las Vegas residency.
The remix rockets into life with pumping drums. Slices of the vocal are cleverly filtered and looped to build the energy before the full chorus blasts in with its tense synth chords. The energy is kept high throughout, even when the arrangement is stripped to a heads-down groove. The contrast of the bassline funk and the madness of Botnek’s furious riff works so very well.
