Ben Phipps’ latest release – ‘Mrs Mr’ – is a whimsical collaboration with LA-based singer-songwriter Lizzy Land. Ben and his team chose to run a ‘Mrs Mr’ remix contest with SKIO Music to facilitate a link between Ben and thousands of producers in 105 different countries. The contest resulted in over 600 submissions from a huge range of genres and styles that took ‘Mrs Mr’ in directions Ben would never have been able to alone. SKIO says, “every producer wants to write their own dream success story, but the biggest challenge is knowing where to begin. Remix contests can bridge that gap, providing the chance to get noticed by the original artist and their label”.
Ben chose Dam Dominici’s remix as the first place winner and chose 5 other successful remixes to add to this EP. He says “after listening to 600+ remixes all I feel is admiration for all the awesome producers out there hustling and putting their heart and soul into our song.” The six winning remixes come from all over the world both musically and literally – from Indonesia to Argentina (and places in between), spanning genres from drum and bass to trap. “It’s really cool to hear the song reimagined into a variety of genres; they each work so well and offer something different”.
