Sony Music has officially become the first major record label to legalize unofficial remixes and DJ mixes, due to its partnership with Dubset, a company that fingerprints mixes and gives royalties to the rightful owners. This means that from now on, the label will receive money from your unofficial remixes and mixes, that you will be able to upload to major streaming services, without having to worry.

Also, according to TechCrunch, Dubset is pretty close to signing this kind of deal with the other two major record labels, Universal and Warner. This will definitely be quite a low blow for SoundCloud, the home of unofficial remixes and mixes. It remains to be seen what will happen in the future, so stay tuned, if you want to know more!
